Repair work of BF №8 of «MMK», PJSC, with a robot set

In December 2022, the repairs of the top two rows of cooling plates and the uncooled part of the stack of blast furnace # 8 of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works were completed.

To apply shotcrete concrete, special equipment was used – a robot set. This technology is unique as the work is carried out without the personnel’s access to the inside of the blast furnace, which significantly reduces the blast furnace downtime while the work is being done. Besides, for the implementation of this project, we used modern wear-resistant refractory materials on a hydraulic-ceramic bond, specially developed by «Seven Refractories» company. In total, about 200 tons of refractory concrete was applied.
