Overhaul Repairs  of NLMK’s Air Heater No. 15

Between May 12 and May 27, 2026, “Refracon Installations”, LLC, specialists repaired the air heater combustion chamber using shotcrete practice. The project aim was to restore the air heater refractory lining in order to meet the technical requirements of NLMK, PJSC, in particular, to ensure trouble-free operation of the restored lining of the unit through its service life.

The air heater refractory lining repair by shotcrete method includes dismantling of the remaining brick of the destroyed layers of arched lining and the subsequent complete restoration of the combustion chamber refractory lining with shotcrete concrete.

During the renovation, about 100 tons of specially designed for this project by Seven Refractories shotcrete concrete was used. It has low gas permeability, resistance to chemical aggression, and excellent resistance to alkaline vapors and CO.
