Refurbishment of the refractory lining of BF # 3 of PJSC “Tulachermet”

In early November 2022 we completed the refurbishment project of refractory lining of Blast Furnace #3 of Tulachermet, PJSC.

The project incorporated the lining of the hearth and the blast furnace shaft from mark +9.462 mm to + 40.415 mm, as well injection of self-spreading concrete between the casing and the slabs of the blast furnace refrigerator, from mark +10.500 mm to + 29.890 mm.

To apply the working lining in the blast furnace shaft, shotcretting method was used. When shotcreting, we used the technology of applying concrete in segments. The segments were formed by using a wooden formwork, which also serves to control the thickness of the applied layer. More than 1,100 tons of different concrete mixtures were used during the refurbishing. Specially developed by “Seven Refractories” for this project, they show excellent chemical resistance to abrasion, alkali vapors and CO.
